It’s really hard to believe that Isabelle is already six months old, I look at her and think that she just got here yesterday and at other times it seems like she’s always been here. She is doing really well. We are still working with her trying to get her to use her right hand more and she is actually starting to use it a little. Occasionally she will put both of her hands together; it’s like she has figured out that she has another hand and will sit and move her fingers on her right hand with her left hand. She is also starting to try and push her bottle some with her right hand, we still have some work to do but it is a start.
We went for our appointment with the ophthalmologist this week. Her eyes are STILL dilated and we haven’t put any medicine in them since Sunday night. Definitely powerful ointment. The ophthalmologist said that she was not near sighted; he saw a little astigmatism and far sightedness in her left eye more than her right. She has tiny optic nerves, but he stated that he has seen people who have tiny optic nerves and that they can see fine. Her optic nerves are pale, but not chalk white is how he stated it and that was a good sign (not exactly sure of what that means in the whole scheme of things), and they are not bulging so she has no internal cranium pressure. She does not need glasses, there’s nothing surgically to do, her refractive is fine, and we go back in six months for a checkup and see how she’s doing then. He said that hopefully she will be tracking faces and smiling appropriately.
Isabelle goes next week for her six month well baby checkup so we will know then how she is doing on everything else.
Quincey has a program Sunday for kindergarten to sing during the church service so we will definitely see how that goes. She sings and carries on in front of us but we don’t know about a crowd.
